"Multi-award winning music software & hardware developer Arturia have released a tutorial series on the finer details of CMI V, their recently unveiled recreation of the Fairlight CMI: the 'mother of all samplers' that changed the face of contemporary music production.

Presented by Glen Darcey, this 4 part video series covers the key concepts of the instrument, letting users quickly familiarize themselves with its features and functions. This series includes a quick tour of the instrument, shows you how to load and edit samples, and explores the new Time and Spectral synthesis possibilities.

While ludicrously powerful and undeniably revolutionary, the original Fairlight CMI was typical of early digital instruments: sluggish, temperamental, and notoriously difficult to program. Despite these quirks, whole studios based their sound around the unparalleled capabilities of this revolutionary sampler, and many now-legendary record producers made the CMI their signature mix ingredient.

Reborn for the modern production age, CMI V has been revamped, reworked, and reimagined to create an equally ground-breaking instrument, built to inspire today’s musicians just as the original did since its 1979 release. Building on the classic sampler functions that are now second nature to most 21st century musicians and producers, and true to their form of revitalizing retro instruments with powerful new features, Arturia have created a living, breathing, true synth & sampling instrument.

Sculpt harmonics and gain access to vast waveform controls with the Spectral Synth; import audio and create your own personalized sample-scapes; and take command of 32 harmonic sound envelopes in the additive Time Synth. CMI V is truly the triumphant return of a giant, a fitting tribute to the monumental sampler that inspired generations of musicians, and turned the whole industry on its head.

CMI V is one of four new stunning vintage instrument recreations that are included in V Collection 6 - Arturia's groundbreaking retro synth and keyboard package. Containing 21 instruments, each modeled after a keyboard that changed the face of music as we know it. Within V Collection, you'll find meticulously modeled analog synths, digital powerhouses, incredible performance keyboards, acoustic and electric pianos, organs, a string machine, and even a sampler.

Breathing life back into the most iconic keyboard instruments of all time, V Collection is the ultimate creativity launchpad, and an essential studio tool for the modern music producer."

"iProphet recreates the unique sound of the classic Sequential Circuits Prophet VS synthesizer. The Prophet VS's rareness and classic digital sound make it a mainstay for those who can find them and a seemingly out or reach dream for those who cannot. The sound is purely classic crisp digital sound that easily stands on its own, but at the same time is the perfect compliment to the sound of analog synthesizers. It brings the crystaline vintage sound of four digital oscillators and allows sculpting them using a creamy & warm multimode filter. You can morph the sound of the 4 oscillators using the joystick or the vector mode and the vector envelope.

The iProphet is great for evolving pads, sharp leads and super punchy digital bass sounds and comes with over 500 presets created by some of todays best sound designers. You can also swap presets between iProphet and Arturia's Prophet V synthesizer which allows you to work on the iPAD and finish in the DAW of your choice.

iProphet supports Core MIDI, interapp-audio as well as Audiobus technologies for perfect integration.

iProphet is also a Tabletop Ready app. You can use it exclusively or along side your favorite Tabletop instruments.

The use of the brands 'Prophet' and 'Sequencial Circuits' is done with permission of Dave Smith Instruments"

Controller Provides Seamless Musical Link Between Users, Ableton Live Software

Cumberland, R.I. (May 30, 2009) – Akai Professional, the name synonymous with music production, announces that the APC40 Ableton Performance Controller is now available for purchase worldwide.

Akai Professional worked in partnership with software developer Ableton to produce the APC40, the only control surface specifically designed for performance with Ableton Live software. Adding the APC40 transforms the user’s experience from one of constructing tracks with software on a computer to one of fluid, effortless, musical creation. The APC40 is the link between musician and software that perfectly balances analytical parameter control with creative expression.

Akai Professional has developed APC40.com, a dedicated Web site containing all of the information about the APC40 in one place, including text, images, video, an interactive product tour, the APC40 quick start guide, event listings, news, free downloads and more.

Akai Professional will support the APC40 launch with events on May 30 in East London, UK; Hollywood, Calif.; Miami, Fla.; Edinburgh, Scotland; Farmers Branch, Texas; Greenville, S.C.; Seattle, Wash.; New York, N.Y.; Fountain Valley, Calif.; Millbury, Mass.; and Sherman Oaks, Calif. All events are free and open to the public. Further details are available at APC40.com.

'I have been an Ableton Live user since version 1.0. I've never found a controller that did the things I wanted it to do with Live,” said Glen Darcey, Product Manager, Akai Professional. “There were many things that would work, but I could never find an elegant solution. Akai Pro president, Jack O'Donnell, recognized Live’s popularity and the potential of pairing it with our hardware designs. Before long, we approached Ableton and got moving on developing what would eventually be the APC40.'

The APC40 is available now from pro audio and musical instrument retailers. It has U.S. retail price of $599, and a street price of $399."
